The hotel is very nice, and the arrival by boat is very comfortable, a little expensive in my opinion and they charge you for the suitcases, which should be included in the ticket that you buy for transport because you do not take away space from any passenger, the food and cocktails are also expensive for what they serve, apart from these two things, it is worth visiting it !!
Staying at Isla Del Sol was the highlight of our trip to Cartagena. The location was safe, peaceful, family/kid friendly, and perfect to feel immersed in the island’s life. The staff was amazing and the food delicious.
This hotel is amazing! We stayed a week and everything was perfect. The staff is absolutely professional and courteous. The food is so great and the rooms always clean. I really recommend this hotel for everyone. The bar and their people really great, a lot of water activities to do.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
The food was awful, but the staff was amazing. Best massage I’ve ever had in my life. Beautiful resort but nothing to do besides the resort.
Welcome was very warm, customers service very professional, foods was perfect for me and the place just like paradise and very clean. I subjected to have available citrus water for the guests and emergency mineral water o any that helps stomach problems.
Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff and opportunities for both swimming in the sea or relaxing by the pool. Plenty of other activities as well.
Food was decent, if not extravagant, and the rooms tidy and spacious.
PS: The boat trip can get bumpy, as we experienced on our way back to Cartagena!
Lovely quiet hotel on the Rosario island. Food was really good, portion sizes were fine! Drinks (beer was cheap) seen a few people say they’re expensive but 7000cop is cheap for Cartagena. Room was really nice air con was perfect. Staff were really friendly and a massive plus point.
Our stay at Hotel Isla del Sol was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth and friendliness, making us feel right at home. The location is unbeatable—crystal-clear waters, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing.
The rooms were clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated with a rustic charm while still offering all the necessary comforts. The food was another highlight—fresh, flavorful, and full of Caribbean flair.
The water activities (like snorkeling and kayaking) were well organized and so much fun. If you’re looking to disconnect from stress and immerse yourself in natural beauty, Hotel Isla del Sol is the perfect getaway.
We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
Great services and friendly staff. Beach is beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking to the bar on the reef and snorkel around. Food is just ok but not much options around the island. We also walked to nearly public beaches and stores to buy snack and water which was way cheaper.
The property is clean and well maintained. The staff were professional, courteous, helpful, and responsive to most any reasonable request. There was a nice selection of meals and the food was prepared well. Now that there are different menus for those choosing the inclusive meal plan or the breakfast only plan.
A variety of activities are available such as kayaking or paddle boarding. There is a small protected beach and a saltwater swimming pool. You can also swim in the open cove. Boats can be hired to visit the other nearby islands or go snorkeling. The island is walkable during the day. The are several other resorts within easy walking or kayak distance that you're free to visit to expand some activities or meet other people.
We spent 3 days that were relaxing but not boring.

I went on a girls’ family trip to this hotel at the end of May, and I absolutely loved the experience. Food and drinks were decent while the staff was friendly and welcoming.
One thing I strongly recommend is planning your arrival time carefully. Since the hotel is only accessible by boat, timing is key. Our flight arrived at Cartagena’s airport at 2 PM. From there, it took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to drive to Barú (where you catch the boat), followed by a 15–20 minute boat ride to the hotel. Sorting this out with the hotel was stressful BUT once we got on the boat, the vacation really began and it was worth it.
To make up for the inconvenience, the hotel graciously offered us complimentary transportation from the airport and even included a tour of the islands which was a thoughtful and pleasant gesture.
A couple of helpful tips:
1. In Colombia, most communication (including with hotels) is done via WhatsApp, so having the app is essential.
2. Breakfast is included, but it’s served early and feels a bit rushed, so make sure you’re up on time.
Aside from those small things, our stay was amazing and incredibly relaxing. My family and I are specially grateful to the staff for their hospitality, aside from the beauty and relaxation from the hotel, the staff was the best part and we had a wonderful time💛
From the moment we arrived, Josmira was a kind, helpful, and charming host. We also had a wonderful time getting to know Fabio as he served us food and drink, and Maria Fernanda took exceptional care of us the entire time. The staff here is phenomenal. The rooms were cute, and clean, and the beachside setting was simply gorgeous. 10/10
We traveled to Isla del Sol with our family, and everything was wonderful. It was clean and well-tended to. The pina coladas were fantastico. It was a great place to eddy out by the sea and relax.
Definitely a quiet resort with not many people. There is day trippers that arrive around 10am and leave around 3pm. We enjoyed walking in the village outside of the resort. No cars just dirt roads with limited restaurants and maybe 2 small grocery stores. We ate outside of the resort most of the time at Carmen’s place and the food was so good. The resort food wasnt too impressive.
We had a great time at Isla del Sol! It was very nice to be able to relax and unplug. All of the staff were so nice.
I think it’s worth noting that while Google Maps shows that there are other restaurants in walking distance, they both appeared to be closed. There wasn’t really other food options, so the full board option may be the correct choice!
