"Very cute and quaint cottage with lots of greenery all around. Very comfortable accommodations, and the freshly baked loaf of bread was such a thoughtful touch. We wish we could have stayed longer! "

"The road to the property is rough and stoney ,Steep metal steps up to apartment , not good with luggage ,Cramped mezanine bedroom with 1 bannister rail missing ,no fire exit instructions ,bathroom has a sloping ceiling and was not good for a tall person. View from kitchen window of old tyre'sand a sink thrown in the I am not sure how this passed any fire and building control regs .Would not return and was not worth the price "

"Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

Only downside is it’s situated on the top floor which means four flights off stairs and then another step set once in the apartment! The bedding was bobbly and could do with replacing but overall a lovely apartment😊"

"Very helpful, we were going to be later than anticipated arriving, phoned to let them know, they reassured us it was no problem, everything was ready for our stay. Check-in at the bar was easy, staff showed us to our studio, staff very cheerful. Food in the pub was great, not just pub grub. Only downside, studio was small."

"Lovely little property close to the town and opposite the water. Steep steps lead up to the entrance but once inside the property has everything you need. Large sofa, small table for 4 and kitchen with facilities. Would consider staying again in the future "

Bar was well stocked, bar service was great Breakfast was adequate with a good range for me as a vegetarian. "The hotel is in a great location, high up, with great views of the Abbey and the town. There are steps up to the hotel from the town or you can walk up the road (Khyber Pass). There is limited onsite parking which needs to be booked in advance. Room 2 was clean and had a new carpet and bed. It was quite a large room with a sea view. At the time of our visit (Sept. 2025), there was a lot of noisy work being done on hotel improvements, but this will only improve the hotel for future guests. The staff were very helpful and we would definitely stay here again."
