Ceuta & Melilla, Europe hotel rooms at the Independent

"1.how does this hotel be rated as 4*? Everything is so rundown and dusty 2. Zero towels in my Presidential Room. I had to ask for them. 3. No Kleenex in room 4. The towels delivered to my room all smelled like cigarette smoke 5. Pebbles in the shower room flower has some missing pebbles 6. Floor is so worn out 7. No bellboy to help with luggage 8.I was told at check-in that buffet breakfast would be served until 11am. When I got there at 10:40am but was refused service. "

"My disappointment regarding the service I experienced during my recent stay this hotel. As a five-star establishment, I had expected a much higher standard of hospitality and professionalism. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet these expectations: Upon arrival, while my taxi driver was unloading my luggage, a bellboy walked past without offering assistance or even acknowledging me. I had to carry my own bag up the ramp into the lobby. When I entered the lobby, it was empty of guests, yet several front desk staff were engaged in conversation among themselves. Despite this, there was no greeting or acknowledgment of my arrival. Throughout my stay, I consistently experienced a lack of basic courtesy. Each time I passed through the lobby, front desk staff did not greet or acknowledge me, instead continuing their personal conversations. These interactions gave the impression of inattentive and unprofessional service, which is not in line with the standards expected of a 5-star hotel. What I found most disappointing about my stay was not just the lack of service, but the clear sense of being judged and treated differently. After spending a month trekking across Morocco, I arrived with practical travel gear rather than polished luggage. Unfortunately, it seemed that this alone influenced how I was treated. I was met with indifference from staff who appeared far more engaged and welcome toward other guests. Hospitality should never be conditional on appearance or race. "

"Nice hotel within easy walking distance of Gibraltar. Our family room was huge! Lovely breakfast as well with lots of choices "

"Great hotel, rooms very clean, had fabulous sea view watching the ships moving in and out of the harbour, recommend junior suite for accommodation as very spacious, lovely communal areas - bar, verandah etc all with great views. Hotel ideally located, short walk to town, nature reserve, gardens and the rock! . "

"Great hotel near airport… exceptionally clean. Breakfast great. Lots building work around .. lots going on with noise although not heard in room… staff fantastic..not enough places in room to put clothes so left most in case.. lovely bathroom nice toiletries. "

"Overall hotel appeared old Reno’s were poorly done with water damage. Viynl floor cheapened the room further."
