One of the main highlights of Leimebamba is its museum, located a few kilometres out of Leimebamba itself, on the winding mountain road that heads towards Celendín. Although the main gates to the car park and gardens are always open, you have to ring the bell to be let in to the grounds of the museum. The entry fee is 15 soles.

The museum houses much of what was found in 6 chullpas (ancient Andean funerary towers) at Laguna de los Condores back in 1996. There are thousands of artefacts pertaining to the Chachapoyan civilisation, as well as 200 mummified bodies kept inside a sealed glass room.

The museum is closed Christmas Day and New Years Day, but open from 10am-4:30pm all other days.
