Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Al Hamra escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare pair of socks and a good read. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be the goal when deciding what to wear during your flight. Consider your choice of footwear carefully too, as swollen ankles and feet can be a side effect of flying. Roomy, closed-toed shoes are always a smart option.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-distance flying is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to wander around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help reduce this risk.
