If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be tough. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these helpful hints for a comfortable start to your time in Alberta. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right gear. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could injure passengers, such as guns and swords, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your top priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your legs and feet often.
