- The trick to having an amazing flight experience is to be prepared. So, let's start with the basics: passport, travel documents, credit cards and medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you busy, like some electronic devices or a good book. It's also a wise idea to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and remember to take a cardigan as it can get chilly inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also recommended.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to mitigate your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks, drink lots of water often and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
