Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Bords could be simple and straightforward or it could go on forever. We've pulled together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a comfortable experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp or pointed objects lurking in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive goods, such as bleach and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and remember to bring a cardigan as the temperature can drop inside the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a good idea.
- The serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from happening. Wearing a pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
