Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. We've made a list of handy hints that will help get your Butternut vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an awesome flight experience is to plan ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you busy, like some electronic devices or a good book. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones. And of course, don't forget to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to take a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
