Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Canalou vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Next, find a spot in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your important medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like ice skates, and items that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a sweater just in case you get chilly. Opt for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to wander around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help lower your risk.
