No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Carrie vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a great travel experience is to plan ahead. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, cash and vital medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic devices or a thrilling book. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, don't forget to pop in toiletry items like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your highest priority when selecting what to wear during your flight. Consider your choice of footwear with care too, as swelling of the feet and ankles are quite common. Roomy, closed-toed shoes work well.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing regular foot and leg exercises while seated helps to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good pair of compression socks may also help.
