Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. Check out these handy tips and tricks that will get your Couch escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, your medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Go for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
