Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will help get your Dryden escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack your passport, travel docs, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favorite movies are always good options. If you hope to catch more than just forty winks, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp or pointed objects lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural fibers and remember to pack a jacket just in case you get cold. Always opt for flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing regular foot and leg exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression tights or socks can also help.
