We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as stress-free as possible. Follow our insider tips and you'll be speeding through airport security and enjoying East Sale before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes box cutters, razor blades, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
