- The trick to having a great travel experience is to be prepared. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, bank cards and any vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you occupied, like some electronic devices or a thrilling novel. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Opt for flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to take a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
