No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. We've compiled a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Ensign escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be easy if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a cozy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight is as simple as your choice of clothes. Prepare for changes in temperature by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like sandals and heels are best left for other occasions. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you later.
- Most travelers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There's plenty you can do to lessen your risk. Wear compression socks, drink plenty of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Do a few laps of the cabin or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
