- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you bring the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your important medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible option, as are enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
