Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will get your Espalais escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, travel documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are always good options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your main priority when selecting what to wear on board. Consider your choice of footwear with care too, as swollen feet can be a side effect of flying. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy work well.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are also a great idea to help lower your risk.
