Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Fotingen could be completely painless or it could drag on forever. We've put together some handy hints that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a great experience if you pack the right gear. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare set of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be the goal when choosing what to wear on board. Consider your choice of footwear carefully too, as swollen ankles and feet are a common side effect of flying. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy are always a smart option.
- A condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a pair of compression socks also helps reduce the risk.
