Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Gorey escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by dressing in layers, and opt for flat, enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
