Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're prepared. We've put together a list of handy tips that will get your Halifax vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a great travel experience is to be prepared. Start with the essentials: passport, official ID, cash and daily medications. Next, take on board items that'll help pass the time, like some electronic devices or a magazine. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, be sure to squeeze in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by dressing in layers, and wear flat, enclosed shoes like slip-ons.
- Caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers on long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your ankles and legs moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
