If you're not prepared, air travel can be overwhelming. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy tips for a comfortable start to your time in Hansell. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a comfortable experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare change of clothes and a good read. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and pack a sweater as the temperature can drop inside the cabin during longer flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- Most travelers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to reduce your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks, stay well hydrated and keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform exercises in your seat.
