No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're prepared. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Harty escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, official ID, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a phone filled with your favorite movies are some fantastic options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll step off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- The result of lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers during long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by staying hydrated, keeping your lower limbs moving and wearing compression tights or socks.
