Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Hindes vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a pain-free flight experience is to be prepared. First up, the essentials: passport, travel docs, bank cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you occupied, like your laptop or a good book. It's also wise to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer up with loose, natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to pack a pullover just in case you get cold. Always opt for flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your luggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-distance flying is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
