If you're not prepared, air travel can be challenging. But there's no need to worry. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a worry-free start to your time in Hurdland. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be easy if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes box cutters, razor blades, fuel and fireworks. Sports equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an airplane are no fashion runway. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and bring a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin. Enclosed, flat shoes are always a good choice too.
- Most travelers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are plenty of ways to mitigate your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water and keep your legs and feet moving. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
