Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Jumbo Island vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a worry-free travel experience is to plan ahead. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, bank cards and daily medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you occupied, like your laptop or a good read. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes box cutters, razor blades, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm other people, such as firearms and swords, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to pack a jacket just in case you get cold. Pick a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your main luggage.
- Most travelers have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. There's plenty you can do to minimize your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks, stay well hydrated and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform some stretches in your seat.
