No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. Take a peek at these handy travel tips that will get your Langley vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a pain-free flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, credit cards and important medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling book. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. And of course, be sure to pop in toiletry items like a toothbrush, lip balm and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort really should be the goal when choosing what to wear during your flight. Consider your footwear with care too, as swollen feet and ankles are quite common. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are your best bet.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
