No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your Lapithos vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you pack the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean set of clothes and something to read. Secondly, leave space in your bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your plane are no place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a sweater as it tends to get cool inside the cabin during longer flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a wise idea.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, make the most of every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help minimize this risk.
