Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Longos escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be easy if you bring the right gear. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer up in natural fibers and bring a cardigan just in case you get cold. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your luggage.
- The result of sustained periods of inactivity, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a condition that can affect some passengers on long-haul flights. But the great news is there are proven ways to significantly reduce the risk of developing it. Drink plenty of water, walk up and down the aisles whenever possible and wear compression socks or tights.
