- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and pack a cardigan as it can get quite cool in the cabin during long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are always a good choice too.
- The serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights may also help.
