No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organized. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Malta escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, put in your passport, important documents, wallet and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling novel and a tablet filled with your favorite shows are some great options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you arrive looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, fuels and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like ice skates, and items that could injure passengers, such as firearms and swords, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by layering up, and wear flat, enclosed footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
