If you're not prepared, air travel can be a real challenge. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these tips and tricks for a worry-free start to your vacation in Melbu. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to pack a jacket in case it gets cool in the cabin. Go for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your main luggage.
- You've probably heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There's plenty you can do to lessen your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression tights or socks, drink plenty of water and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
