Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well organized. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will get your Meta vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you take the right gear. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, leave space in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your important medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to be as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and pack a cardigan in case it gets cool. Always opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your main luggage.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to lessen your risk. Wear a quality pair of compression socks, stay well hydrated and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
