Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're prepared. We've put together a list of handy hints that will help get your Miami Beach vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a great travel experience is to pack ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and any vital medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling novel. It's also smart to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of headphones. And of course, be sure to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and gasoline, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and opt for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
