Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Petit Trou could be a piece of cake or it could go on forever. We've put together some tips that will help you start your unforgettable escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a pocket knife lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer up with loose, natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets cool in the cabin. Go for a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
