We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be cruising through airport security and seeing the best of Piopolis before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between air carriers, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, blades, fuel and fireworks. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could injure passengers, such as swords and guns, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and remember to bring a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a sensible choice.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There are plenty of ways to lessen your risk. Wear compression socks, drink lots of water and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
