Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Saint Hedwig vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, put in your passport, travel documents, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favorite shows are good options. If you hope to catch more than just forty winks, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural-fiber clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets cool. Pick well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing regular foot and leg exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a pair of compression socks also helps reduce the risk.
