Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy hints that will help get your Schwemlingen escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, official ID, credit cards and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are always good options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and fuels, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort really should be your priority when deciding what to wear on board. Consider your choice of footwear carefully too, as swollen ankles and feet are a common side effect of flying. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are your best bet.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
