Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your Serres-Castet vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, important documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling book and a phone filled with your favorite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to take a quick snooze, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin. Always opt for roomy, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked baggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-distance flying is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help lower your risk.
