Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will get your Shellman escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, important documents, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a tablet filled with your favorite shows are some terrific options. If you plan to take a quick nap, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you arrive looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothes. Prepare for changes in temperature by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin gets too cold. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left in your checked suitcase. Instead, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will appreciate it.
- A condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce your risk.
