Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Symi could be completely stress-free or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some useful tips that will help you start your next unforgettable escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean pair of socks and a good read. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Go for flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
