No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Toponas vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you've got all the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear on board. Consider your choice of footwear with care too, as swelling of the feet and ankles can be a side effect of flying. Shoes which are flat and slightly roomy are always a good idea.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-distance travel is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
