We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey as pain-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and having a ball in Tower in next to no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you take the right gear. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose clothing is a smart choice, as are roomy, closed-toe shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
