We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as stress-free as possible. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be zooming through the airport and discovering Trent in no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and something to read. Next, leave space in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and remember to bring a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a wise idea.
- The serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks can also help.
