No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of essential travel tips that will get your Vila Boim escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a pleasure if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like knives, scissors, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
