Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Wentworth vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack in your passport, travel documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favorite movies are some wonderful options. If you intend to take a short snooze, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you step off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, pocket knives, fuel and fireworks. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for changes in temperature by layering up. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left for other occasions. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression tights or socks can also help.
