Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to West Point could be as easy as pie or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, put in your passport, travel docs, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a phone filled with your favorite movies are some wonderful options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items differs between air carriers, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm other people, such as swords and guns, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when choosing what to wear on board. Loose clothing is a sensible option, as are roomy, closed-toe shoes.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lower your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
