Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. Take a peek at these top travel tips that will get your Yof vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, put in your passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are some great options. If you hope to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a cardigan as the temperature can drop in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a good choice.
- A condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
