Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Yuda-ri could be completely painless or it could drag on forever. We've put together some handy hints that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane ride can be a pleasure if you carry the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and some money.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general guide to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, drills, fuel and fireworks. • Security personnel first need to check that you have a valid ID and matching travel documents before you can proceed any further. Have them ready for inspection.
• Next up, both you and your hand luggage will be X-rayed. To make the process quick and painless, remove anything that might trigger the alarms. Personal belongings such as your jacket, belt and headphones need to go through the machine.
• All electronic devices, including your phone and tablet, are also required to be separately scanned.
• Can't travel without your favorite cologne? Not a problem. As long as the volume is no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's stored in a clear zip-close bag, you're permitted to bring it with you on board.
• There's a possibility that you'll be asked to remove your shoes to be X-rayed, so wearing lightweight sneakers is always a wise idea.
• Take all prohibited items out of your carry-on bag. If you have any sharp objects like a pocket knife or tools, pack them in your checked baggage. They won't be allowed on board and will be confiscated.
