Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Good budget hotel close to beach with good free breakfast
No one was there at reception when we arrived … two families with luggage.. worst location.. no electricity in the middle of the night .. no AC or the fan working no one there to listen
It has been a wonderful experience staying in Meya Beach Walk hotel. The staff was courteous and caring. We did have some language issues but that never has been an issue with respect to service. Hotel is just a few steps walk away from beach and with less people coming, this almost acts like a private beach. Great stay and good food.
Clean, calm, spacious rooms. Close to the beach and away from the town & crowd.
However you do not have enough secured parking. You will need your own transport.
An owner-run hotel that is small enough (12 rooms) for the staff to know you and attend to you personally. Rooms may not have the most modern fittings but is big, comfortable, and clean. Has hot water for shower and wifi too. Stayed twice at this hotel recently, both wonderful experiences. Breakfast is served personally: fruit platter, juice, choice of Indian or Western toast, with coffee or tea amidst rooftop dining area with lovely view of sea. Short 200m walk to beach. Brought many friends to her beach front restaurant, all of whom rated the food as very good and great value for money. You should try their food! Mr Baskaran who managed the place always wears a smile. Because of my night flight, he even gave me an extended stay until 6 pm on last day, FOC. My last dinner was also on the house! Looking forward to be back again and will surely recommend my friends to stay in this hotel.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
I waited two months to avoid writing this review, but the hotel owners are not responding.
1) I got charged 4 times, across three cards. The credit card companies and I are trying to contact them for the past few weeks, but they won’t respond. At. All.
2) we ate once at the restaurant on the property. The hotel manager seemed strange, incoherent and repeatedly saying what he wanted to say. I speak Tamil, but couldn’t get the guy to bring only what we ordered and charge only the price listed. Guy wanted to charge for items that come as sides for free. Finally he took 45 mins to make the bill, charged us too much, and told us to work it out w the owners but told us to pay the total he added up. We paid, raised w the owners, but this too was never resolved.
I won’t recommend this place.
Property is nicely located on the beach but is in urgent need of capital to bring it up to the mark.
Cons-
A) Cleanliness- No problem with the old world feel, in fact good. But the room was smelling as if not opened for weeks. Even though there were ample windows, none were kept opened to let in fresh air.
B) Laundry- Bedsheets were torn. Not fresh.
C) Away from the tourist hotspots like butter ball, shore temple and pandav rathas or eating joints. You don't get autos easily from the road as it is about 3 km outside the city. Hotel should maintain an e-rickshaw for pickup and drop off guests(in nainital they do) which will add to the USP of the property and won't cost much.
D) please improve the upkeep of rooms, furniture and laundry
Pros-
A) Breakfast- Open kitchen on top. Excellent view. Peaceful. Excellent variety and tasty food and serving.
B) Staff- cordial and well mannered.
C) Location- On the beach. Excellent.
D) architecture and furniture- old world feel which is good in fact.
E) Spacious rooms and ample greenery with peaceful surroundings.
F) I even got an uber to Chennai costing only 650 whereas the taxi guys were asking for 1500.
All in all, they seriously need to work on cleanliness and connectivity(e rickshaw)
Staff was very basic. I was charged 5100/- for this Lodge type large room. It's mostly one man show at the lodge with one person managing most of activities.
This lodge type stay doesn't deserve more than 2500/- per night
Excellent place just 2 minutes away from a beautiful beach which is secluded. Great service from all staff who went out of the way to make our stay very comfortable despite the heavy rains we experienced during our stay. The owner's husband was very accommodative and gave a triple room instead of one of the double rooms we had booked at no extra cost. Mohan Raj, the Manager was extremely helpful and made every attempt to make our stay comfortable. Food was excellent.
Due to heavy vegetation, there may be mosquitoes occasionally. The only issue we faced was lack of hot water in the morning as someone had forgotten to switch on the solar equipment the previous evening. Due to heavy rains, they had to frequently clean the beautifully laid out terrace roof top restaurant. Gave them suggestions to get piping fixed properly to avoid rain seeping in to the restaurant. They have agree to look into it.
Overall, would certainly like to go back. Enjoyed every bit of the time we spent there. Very well maintained property.
